Chase Bank will increase the annual Membership Fee on its Sapphire Reserve credit card to $550. The company made the announcement about two weeks ago. Existing customers will pay the current $450 annual fee if their renewal date is on or before April 1, 2020.
The 550-dollar annual membership fee will make the Chase Sapphire credit card the two most expensive credit cards to carry, based on the yearly membership fee. The Platinum Card from American Express also charges a $550 annual membership fee.
There is an old saying on Wall Street that “credit card is the only good business left in finance.” and credit card issuers believe that saying cold-heartedly.
Although premium credit cards such as the Chase Sapphire, the Platinum Card from American Express, and others target the upper-middle class and above, paying a ridiculous annual membership fee for the luxury to use any credit card is asinine.
